Adult 10-Week Sessions

Adult evening sessions are always starting; it is never too late to start learning Spanish! Our classes focus on learning the most frequently-used vocabulary and grammatical structures in order to communicate. You will spend time conversing, reading, and of course, having fun!

  • Each session/level is 15 contact hours
  • Video recordings and extra study materials provided weekly
  • $300 or bring a friend and you each pay $250

Spanish - Level 2 Online

Instructor: Jill Busscher

In this class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will use common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. We will read an entertaining story set in Spain during the Civil War of the 1930’s. Entering Level 2 you should be able to understand basic Spanish and respond to common get-to-know-you questions. In this class, you will become more fluent expressing your needs and opinions and conversing about near-future events. (Prior to Level 2, EdConnect students have had 15 hours of Spanish instruction.)

Spanish - Level 3 In-person in Philadelphia, PA

In this class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will learn and practice common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. You will read two mini-novels: one detailing a family’s escape from Cuba and the other, an adventure set during Mexico’s Day of the Dead. Entering Level 3 you should be able to understand basic Spanish and hold simple conversations. In this class, you will converse in more detail about past and upcoming plans. (Prior to Level 3, EdConnect students have had 30 hours of Spanish instruction.)

In this class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will learn and practice common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. Guided practice will increase your comprehension and allow you to sharpen your conversational skills. You will really start feeling confident in expressing your thoughts in Spanish! In this class, you will read a highly-entertaining mini-novel about pirates – a student favorite! Entering Level 4, you should have a good understanding of the present tense and be able to converse about past and upcoming plans. (Prior to Level 4, EdConnect students have had 45 hours of class time.)

Spanish - Level 8 Online

*One-hour classes for 15 weeks

In this class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will learn and practice common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. You will read an interesting, mini-novel containing the biographies of six remarkable Hispanic people. Through this book and guided conversation practice, you will feel very comfortable understanding and speaking about past events – using both Spanish past tenses! (Prior to Level 8, EdConnect students have had 105 hours of Spanish instruction.)

Spanish - Level 10 Online

In this class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. At this level, you focus on communicating about past events and sharpening your vocabulary. You will read a mystery mini-novel about two teens seeking answers in Salamanca, Spain. Students entering Level 10 have had solid experience and practice with the language, but skills vary. (Prior to Level 10, EdConnect students have had 135 hours of Spanish instruction.)

Spanish - Level 13 In-person in Grandville, MI

In this live IN-PERSON class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. At this level, we learn new and useful vocabulary in the context of reading, listening, and conversation. We will focus on reviewing grammatical structures of previous levels and practice producing these structures with guided conversation. We will read a riveting mini-novel based on the true story of an MS-13 gang member in El Salvador. Students entering Level 13 are comfortable using Spanish for the whole class, but skills vary. (Prior to Level 13, EdConnect students have had 180 hours of Spanish instruction.)

Spanish - Level 17 (Advanced Comprehension and Conversation) Online

*1-1 conversation the other weeks

Tuesdays 6:30–7:30pm*
*One-hour class due to small class size

Instructor: Lina Herrera

This unique hybrid class is designed for the advanced Spanish student – you feel comfortable using solely Spanish, but you need some individualized practice. Every other week, you will attend a group class online (one hour) to continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. In each class, you focus on a specific topic. You will read, watch a short film and discuss this topic. You will glean new vocabulary in context and improve your comprehension and conversational skills. The weeks you don’t meet in-person, you will meet 1-1 with the instructor for customized conversation for 30 minutes. This is the best way to challenge yourself and grow in the language.
