Adult evening sessions are always starting; it is never too late to start learning Spanish! Our classes focus on learning the most frequently-used vocabulary and grammatical structures in order to communicate. You will spend time conversing, reading, and of course, having fun!

Spanish - Level 1 Online

Jan 12 – Mar 16

In this ONLINE class you will learn basic conversational Spanish and start communicating with the most-used words and phrases in the Spanish language. You will be able to make introductions; talk about family, hobbies, past and present plans; and express your needs and wants! Also, you will read a mini-novel about the adventures of a capybara in Ecuador. This class is for students with no prior knowledge of Spanish; we start from square one. Give it a try – it will be fun!

In this IN-PERSON class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will use common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. We will read an entertaining story set in Spain during the Civil War of the 1930’s. Entering Level 2 you should be able to understand basic Spanish and respond to common get-to-know-you questions. In this class, you will become more fluent expressing your needs and opinions and conversing about near-future events. (Prior to Level 2, EdConnect students have had 15 hours of Spanish instruction.)

Level 3

In this IN-PERSON class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will learn and practice common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. We will read two mini-novels: one detailing a family’s escape from Cuba and the other, an adventure set during Mexico’s Day of the Dead. Entering Level 3 you should be able to understand basic Spanish and hold simple conversations. In this class, you will converse in more detail about past and upcoming plans. (Prior to Level 3, EdConnect students have had 30 hours of Spanish instruction.)

Spanish - Level 5 In-person

Level 5

In this IN-PERSON class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will learn and practice common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. We will read the true story (written in the first person) of one woman’s journey from Guatemala to the U.S. Entering Level 5 you should feel comfortable talking about present and near-future events and expressing your needs and opinions. In this class, you will become more confident conversing about basic past events. (Prior to Level 5, EdConnect students have had 60 hours of Spanish instruction.)

Spanish - Level 6 In-person in Conshohocken, PA

Level 6

In this IN-PERSON class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will learn and practice common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. We will read a fun mini-novel set in Bolivia during the Alasitas festival in January. Entering Level 6 you should feel comfortable talking about present, near-future, and some past events and expressing your basic needs and opinions. In this class, you will become more confident conversing about ongoing (present progressive form) and past events. (Prior to Level 6, EdConnect students have had 75 hours of Spanish instruction.)

Spanish - Level 7 Online

In this live ONLINE class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will learn and practice common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. You will read an interesting, biographical mini-novel about the tragic life of Frida Kahlo. Through this book and guided conversation practice, you will feel comfortable understanding and speaking about past events – using both Spanish past tenses! (Prior to Level 7, EdConnect students have had 90 hours of Spanish instruction.) 

Spanish - Level 9 Online

In this live ONLINE class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will use common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. We will read the true story of a young boy’s journey from Guatemala to Michigan. Entering Level 9 you should feel comfortable expressing yourself in Spanish, even regarding past and near-future events. In this class, you will become more fluent conversing about past events – including various verb tenses such as preterite, imperfect, and present perfect. (Prior to Level 9, EdConnect students have had 120 hours of Spanish instruction.)

Level 12

In this live IN-PERSON class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. At this level, we learn new and useful vocabulary in the context of reading, listening, and conversation. We will focus on reviewing grammatical structures of previous levels and practice producing these structures with guided conversation. We will sharpen our listening skills by continuing to watch the Netflix show Street Food Latin America. We will read the second fun and suspenseful mini-novel in the trilogy about a group of teens caught up in love triangles and mysterious happenings. Students entering Level 12 have had solid experience and practice with the language, but skills vary. (Prior to Level 12, EdConnect students have had 165 hours of Spanish instruction.) 

Spanish - Level 16 Online

Jan 13 – Mar 17

In this ONLINE class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will use advanced grammar and vocabulary through conversation and reading. We will read a historical fiction mini-novel about the Dirty War in Argentina during the early 1970’s and late 1980’s. Entering Level 16 you should feel confident expressing yourself in Spanish in various situations. In this class, you will become even more fluent conversing with many verb tenses and a wide range of vocabulary. (Prior to Level 16, EdConnect students have had 225 hours of Spanish instruction.)
