Adult evening sessions are always starting; it is never too late to start learning Spanish! Our classes focus on learning the most frequently-used vocabulary and grammatical structures in order to communicate. You will spend time conversing, reading, and of course, having fun!

Spanish - Level 1 In-Person

In this IN-PERSON class you will learn basic conversational Spanish and start communicating with the most-used words and phrases in the Spanish language. You will be able to make introductions; talk about family, hobbies, past and present plans; and express your needs and wants! Also, you will read a mini-novel about the adventures of a capybara in Ecuador. This class is for students with no prior knowledge of Spanish; we start from square one. In this IN-PERSON class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will use common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. We will read an entertaining story set in Spain during the Civil War of the 1930’s. Entering Level 2 you should be able to understand basic Spanish and respond to common get-to-know-you questions. In this class, you will become more fluent expressing your needs and opinions and conversing about near-future events. (Prior to Level 2, EdConnect students have had 15 hours of Spanish instruction.) Spanish - Level 4 In-Person

In this IN-PERSON class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will learn and practice common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. Guided practice will increase your comprehension and allow you to sharpen your conversational skills. You will really start feeling confident in expressing your thoughts in Spanish! In this class, we will read a highly-entertaining mini-novel about pirates – a student favorite! Entering Level 4, you should have a good understanding of the present tense and be able to converse about past and upcoming plans. Spanish - Level 6 Online

September 24 – December 3*

*One-hour classes for 15 weeks

In this live ONLINE class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will learn and practice common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. We will read a fun mini-novel set in Bolivia during the Alasitas festival in January. Entering Level 6 you should feel comfortable talking about present, near-future, and some past events and expressing your basic needs and opinions. In this class, you will become more confident conversing about ongoing (present progressive form) and past events. (Prior to Level 6, EdConnect students have had 75 hours of Spanish instruction.) Spanish – Level 8 Online

Sept 9 -Nov 11

In this live ONLINE class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. You will learn and practice common phrases and useful vocabulary through conversation and reading. You will read an interesting, mini-novel containing the biographies of six remarkable Hispanic people. Through this book and guided conversation practice, you will feel very comfortable understanding and speaking about past events – using both Spanish past tenses! (Prior to Level 8, EdConnect students have had 105 hours of Spanish instruction.) Profe: Sommer Cain

Spanish – Level 11 In-person

In this IN-PERSON class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. At this level, we learn new and useful vocabulary in the context of reading and conversation. We will focus on reviewing grammatical structures of previous levels and practice producing these structures with guided conversation. We will sharpen our listening skills by working through a Netflix show together: Street Food Latin America. Our fun and suspenseful mini-novel is about a group of teens caught up in love triangles and mysterious happenings. Students entering Level 11 have had solid experience and practice with the language, but skills vary. (Prior to Level 11, EdConnect students have had 150 hours of Spanish instruction.) Spanish – Level 15

Sept 16 – Nov 18

Tuesdays 6:30–8:00pm

In this ONLINE class you will continue improving your Spanish in a fun and comfortable environment. At this level, we learn and review useful vocabulary in the context of reading, listening, and conversation. We will focus on reviewing various verb tenses (preterite, future, conditional, etc.) of previous levels and practice producing these verbs with guided conversation. We will read a suspenseful mini-novel set during the Spanish Civil War.  Students entering Level 15 have had solid practice with the language and feel comfortable expressing themselves, but skills vary. (Prior to Level 15, EdConnect students have had 210 hours of Spanish instruction.) Profe: Lina Herrera
